This article describes the Freelancer Wiki's policies.
Content Policy[]
The primary goal of the Freelancer Wiki is to provide information about the unmodded version of Freelancer in a human-readable format. The subsections below pertain to content from specific fan-made Freelancer content.
Freelancer: HD Edition[]
This subsection covers all content from Freelancer: HD Edition, a mod that aims to offer a modern Freelancer gameplay experience without making major alterations to its look and feel.
As HDE does not add additional content to Freelancer but enhances the content that already exists in Freelancer, texts and screenshots/graphics from HDE are allowed on the wiki under the following conditions:
- Where the text from HDE corrects any mistakes that are present in the same text from Freelancer, the text from HDE should be used.
- Where a screenshot/graphic from HDE can be used as a stand-in "enhanced replacement" for a similar screenshot/graphic from Freelancer, the HDE version is preferred.
- Articles related to the Single Player Campaign should not include, in the context of a walkthrough, any hidden/cut content that was re-added in HDE.
The allowances described above may be periodically subject to review by the Freelancer Wiki's active administration in relation to the ongoing development of HDE and may be amended/revoked without notice.
Vanilla Plus[]
Vanilla plus content primarily concerns drop-in DLL files that can be activated and deactivated via the freelancer.ini file without overwriting any files in a standard installation of Freelancer or breaking save file compatibility.
Articles pertaining to vanilla plus content are allowed on the wiki but must be clearly signposted as content that is not included in a standard installation of Freelancer. The articles must also provide instructions on how to use the content.
Mods and Servers[]
Mods are defined as:
- Content that overwrites existing content in an installation of Freelancer.
- Not an unmodified installation of Freelancer: HD Edition.
- Requiring/Recommending the use of a third-party frontend, such as the Freelancer Mod Manager, to activate and deactivate.
As there are no live official servers for Freelancer, the policies in this sub-section apply to all servers.
All mods/servers are allowed one article, matching the name of the mod, on the Freelancer Wiki. The article must include a link to the mod/server's official page.
Deletion Policy[]
The Freelancer Wiki's administration reserves the right to delete any content that:
- Is not used on any other pages in mainspace.
- Is irrelevant to Freelancer.
- Contains speculative non-canon content.
- Does not comply with the Content Policy stated above.
